Miss Williams’ high expectations and standards-based instructional focus were evident across grades in high levels of student engagement, rigor in lessons and differentiated learning tasks. English language arts units and lessons involve students citing text-based evidence and using accountable talk in conversations, working cooperatively in small groups with partners, discussions around novel studies, debating arguments, and justifying their thinking in math and science. Student interests and talents were developed through technology, performing arts, robotics and clubs. To encourage her students to develop their skills and interests in content areas Gloria guided the school's implementation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiative and share the school's program with the national stem conference. Gloria exemplifies the best in educational leadership.

Data is a critical component of the work Gloria has embedded in the school improvement process at Intermediate School 292. Gloria has extended and deepened the school's use of data to guide their instructional work and improve student outcomes. Through Datacation, Intermediate School 292 teachers access real time data, report cards, progress reports, attendance and anecdotal reports. Student debt is disaggregated to inform and support instruction, professional development, curriculum planning and accountability. Each year IS292 students have met the requirements for specialized high schools with many students being admitted to Brooklyn Tech and Stuyvesant high schools.

In supervision you must be a motivator. A supervisor must be able to motivate stakeholders and those in the larger community. Miss Williams has demonstrated this through purposeful planning with stakeholders throughout the school years to share ideas and to demonstrate all positive results that may be ongoing as a result of plans that are implemented. Miss Williams has allowed teachers to play an important role with regard to sharing positive steps that have been taken for students, the school community through the school-based literacy and curriculum fairs. Through grade level assemblies miss Williams has given students the opportunity to be praised for their hard work and share good news regarding their professional learning community. Through these practices, miss Williams has motivated both teachers and students to excel.

Gloria, my newsletter opening what's a tribute to my professional learning at 19 K 292; please share with your staff. Thank you and your staff for an engaging learning experience...
My biggest take away was the vigorous shared inquiry that students are actively engaged in; teachers have loosened their control, by facilitating rich conversations, while guiding student learning. The students are doing the work, by pushing one another’s thinking and challenging thoughts with taught concepts, research and text-based information.’
Thinking was beyond evident; it was contagious. Conversations were rich and relevant. Some were working in small groups, somewhere partnerships and some were whole class discussions. Although performance tasks were aligned within the grades, the true beauty was observing the implementation, which varied upon teacher creativity and student population.
