Professional Development for Teachers
Great teaching is more than delivering content; it’s about cultivating minds, nurturing emotional wellbeing, and building a culture of belonging where every student can thrive. Whether in their first year or their twentieth, teachers benefit from continuous professional growth that sharpens instructional practice, strengthens student relationships, and deepens cultural responsiveness.

This professional development series was designed with that mission in mind. Over the course of multiple sessions, new and experienced educators are invited to explore foundational and forward-thinking topics across three essential pillars:
Curriculum and Instruction
Sessions focus on designing, engaging, standards-aligned lessons, using data to inform instruction, applying backward design, and integrating literacy and questioning strategies across subject areas.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
Teachers will examine how to support students' emotional development, build trust and resilience, and create trauma-informed classrooms that value empathy and connection.

School and Classroom Culture
Through collaborative discussions and reflection, participants will explore how to foster inclusive, affirming environments that celebrate diversity, maintain high expectations, and build strong student-teacher relationships.

Differentiating Instruction Without Losing the Whole Group
Teachers explore the concept of differentiation by content, process and product. I'm with that information they will exploit differentiation by readiness, interest and learning profile. Teachers then learn to design and deliver lessons that meet diverse learner needs while keeping classroom coherence.

Backward Design for Authentic Assessment
Teachers discuss and analyze the concept of backward design and the benefits of this technique in instruction. Further this session trains teachers to use backward design to create aligned and meaningful assessments that support deep learning and lead to improved student outcomes.

Culturally Responsive Curriculum Design
This session supports teachers in building inclusive, affirming curriculum that reflects students’ identities and promotes equity. Having understood the foundations of cultural relevance and responsiveness, teachers will use materials presented in varied curricular and adapt to the varied needs of learners. Additionally, teachers will design curricular units ensuring that they conform more to the elements of cultural responsiveness.

Integrating Literacy Across the Curriculum
Teachers discuss and analyze the value of disciplinary literacy across the curriculum. They learned to incorporate literacy strategies in all subjects to improve comprehension, vocabulary and communication. Additionally, they will learn of strategies that they may use to ensure literacy is embedded across content areas.

Using Formative Assessment to Guide Instruction
Teachers will explore how to embed formative assessment strategies to check for understanding and adjust instruction dynamically. They will also analyze how effectively used formative assessments lead to improve results in summative assessments. Teachers will leave equipped with the tools to develop and administer formative assessments that ensure enhanced student success.
